The Huon Valley Music Collective is delighted to announce a collaboration with ”Le Weekend” for the Easter Weekend 2025. Three musical events and a Talk in the Cygnet Town Hall, breakfast at the Port Cygnet Yacht Club, plus the Cygnet Market

Saturday April 19th at 2:30pm. Opening ceremony and Talk by Bob Brown on the French History of the area

Saturday April 19th at 6:30pm, Jenni Flemming (Piano and voice), together with bass player Tony Morgan and cellist Gwyn Roberts will present a  program of original songs composed by Jenni, as well as some jazz instrumental favourites with a French flavour.

Saturday April 19th at 7:30pm, the delightful vocal trio, The Clementines will entertain with a program of vocal music in a variety of styles, also collaborating with the 6pm performers.

Sunday April 20th at 2:30pm, the Collective will present a chamber music concert of French music. Featured instruments will be piano, including piano duet, and strings. Jenni will be joined at the keyboard by her friend of 40 years, pianist Brachi Tilles.

Monday April 21st at 9am, French Breakfast at Port Cygnet Yacht Club. The famous Cygnet Weekend Market will also take place that day, with an obviously French flavour.

Other activities are under discussion based around previous “Le Weekend” Festivals.

A Celebration of Musical Bonds

Theme: Master & Apprentice

This year, we celebrated the theme 'Master & Apprentice', honoring the deep connections and shared journeys among our esteemed musicians. These bonds, some spanning lifetimes, have been the catalyst for our  Easter Festival in the Valley. From Tony and Gwyn to Jenni and Adam, each duo's story is a testament to the power of mentorship and collaboration.

Chamber Music Concerts
Three exquisite Chamber Music Concerts were staged:

  • Good Friday, March 29 and Easter Sunday, March 31 in Cygnet @ 2:30pm
  • Easter Monday, April 1 @ 2:30pm at the iconic Franklin Palais featuring the Hobart Chamber Orchestra

Line-Up
Featuring renowned artists such as Gwyn Roberts, Jenni Flemming, the Trigon Ensemble, Trish and Paul Dean, and piano virtuoso Adam McMillan. We were thrilled to welcome back many of the brilliant performers from the 2023 Festival.

Saturday Specials

  • Band Performance: Derwent Valley Concert Band, led by Lyall McDermott, featured vocalist Madeleine Dyer and cellist Gwyn Roberts.
  • Jazz Night: A very popular offering, exploring the rhythms of jazz with artists Jennifer and Ian Cocking, Matt Ives, Aaron Entresz, Louise Denson. Jenni Flemming (Piano and Voice) with bass player Tony Morgan opened the evening with an expanded offering.

  • Art: Admire the captivating sketches by John Harrison.

Spanning Baroque to the 21st Century, our repertoire included:
